Braille Glove
Invented by – Ryon Patterson
When Ryan Patterson, 18, a high school student, witnessed a deaf woman trying to buy food at a Burger King, he had an epiphany: why not design a device that translates sign language into text? Patterson used that concept with a leather golf glove to construct a gadget that detects the wearer's hand movements and wirelessly transfers them to a small handheld monitor, where they appear as words. Patterson won first place in the Siemens Westinghouse Science and Technology Competition with the device.

Birth Control Patch
Invented by – McNeil Pharmaceutical
In 2002, McNeil Pharmaceuticals invented the birth control patch, which was dubbed ortho. OrthoEvra is a patch the size of a matchbook but as thin as a piece of tape that distributes the same oestrogen and progestin as a traditional birth control pill. The hormones flow through the skin and into the bloodstream from the patch. It's waterproof and won't slip off; just stick it anywhere on your body that's not obvious, and change it once a week.

Color Therapy Lamps
Invented by – Daniel Raiche
Daniel Raiche introduced the colour therapy lamp in 2002. With their lovely reds, yellows, and greens gradually melting into one another, the new Therapy lamp looks a little like Rothko paintings. They range in length from 2 to 6 and a half feet and are framed in brushed aluminium. They also serve as postmodern pieces of art. They're more than simply gorgeous lights, though. The lamps, which are powered by the same fluorescent bulbs used in light therapy (for example, to treat seasonal affective disorder during the winter months), may genuinely lift your emotions. The coloured gels may also be mixed and matched, so you can choose a yellow-green mixture to stimulate you in the kitchen or a purple-red combination to jumpstart things in the bedroom.

Foam Chairs
Invented by – Lawrence and Sharon Tarantino
The foam chairs, designed by Lawrence and Sharon Tarantino in 2002, are composed of the same soft, nontoxic foam used in athletic mats and can be stacked like bigger blocks to create free-form sculptures or geometric room barriers. The chairs, which come in 12 colour combinations including orange-red, green-blue, and yellow-gray, are intended for children aged 3 to 6, but are strong enough to carry people weighing up to 300 pounds.

Robot Vaccum
Invented by – iRobot
Roomba, a robot that vacuums your house for you, was designed by a bunch of M.I.T. brainiacs. It was developed by iRobot in the year 2002. Roomba, which runs on rechargeable batteries, roams your home on its own, picking up dust bunnies and wayward Cheerios and squeezing under beds and couches where only people can reach. Its sensors prevent it from colliding with walls and furniture, as well as falling down stairwells. Roomba beeps triumphantly and turns off when it finished cleaning a room.
