2008 gave us some technological discoveries & inventions. We have written a list of the top 5 inventions that were made in the year 2008
Bionic contact lens
Invented by – Babak Parviz
A bionic contact lens is a digital contact lens that is worn directly on the human eye, and scientists believe that in the future, it could serve as a useful virtual platform for activities such as surfing the World Wide Web, superimposing images on real-world objects, playing video games for entertainment, and monitoring patients' medical conditions. The bionic contact lens is a type of nanotechnology and microfabrication that is made out of light-emitting diodes, an antenna, and electrical circuit wire. Babak Parviz, an electrical engineer at the University of Washington (UW) in Seattle, invented the bionic contact lens in 2008.

Android-powered smartphones
Invented by – HTC
Andy Rubin and three colleagues founded Android Inc. in 2003 to develop the Android operating system, which would permanently change the tech sector. Google purchased Android for an undisclosed sum in 2005, and two years later revealed the Open Handset Alliance (OHA) – a consortium of mobile manufacturers who would collaborate to produce products that would support the Android OS. The T-Mobile G1, the world's first Android smartphone, was formally released in October 2008. The gadget, unlike today's Android phones, had a "swing out" keyboard and a "chin" on the bottom that contained the phone's navigation controls.

TX Active: Smog-Eating Cement
Invented by – Italcementi
TX Active is a self-cleaning and pollution-reducing cement created by Italcementi that can reduce pollution (nitric oxides) by up to 60%. TX Active incorporates a photocatalyzer based on titanium dioxide. The product decreases the need for concrete care by eliminating the majority of impurities that cause discoloration through photocatalysis. Furthermore, the cement effectively eliminates airborne contaminants that cause pollution. The product can be used on roads, pavements, parking lots, and buildings, as well as anywhere normal cement is utilised. This is my choice for invention of the year. If we're going to pave paradise, let's at least give paradise a fighting shot.

Camera Pill
Invented by – Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft
Researchers from the Fraunhofer Institute for Biomedical Engineering developed the first-ever control system for the camera pill in partnership with engineers from Given Imaging, the Israelite Hospital in Hamburg, and the Royal Imperial College in London. A patient can consume the camera pill. A magnetic remote control allows a doctor to move the camera pill. The steerable camera pill is made up of a camera, a transmitter that transfers images to the receiver, a battery, and numerous cold-light diodes that flash briefly like a flashlight every time a photo is taken.

Spray on Skin Gun
Invented by – Dr. Fiona Wood
Fiona Melanie Wood, an Australian plastic surgeon of British origin, devised "spray-on skin" method for treating burn victims. Her spray-on skin healing procedure entailed removing a small patch of healthy skin from a burn victim and utilising it in a laboratory to produce new skin cells. The patient's injured skin was then sprayed with the fresh cells. It took 21 days for typical skin grafts to develop enough cells to cover serious burns. Wood was able to reduce that period to only 5 days by using spray-on skin. Her technique was regarded as a significant advancement in clinical skin healing, aiding in the reduction of scarring in patients with severe burns and hastening their recovery.
